What is a guide? A guide is an extremely competent fisherman who will advise, encourage, and fine-tune your efforts to provide you with top class sport and the fishing experience of a lifetime. He can provide you with the right gear for the right spot, and show you how, where and when to put the big ones in the net. A guide’s experience and ability will always be available to you so that, by following his advice, your own lack of experience or ability will not stand in the way of that special occasion. A guide will ‘work his guts out’ to make sure your money is well-spent and your time together is a happy, satisfying and rewarding experience. In this business, you get what you pay for – the cheap option is no option at all. What your payment will buy is decades of experience. As your guide, I’ve been there and done it all – I’ve led my customers to trophy fish from all over Scotland. Customers of mine have had sea trout up to10 lb and wild browns to 7 lb from various locations. I hope to improve on these records in the next few seasons. I know where the big ones live and how to temporarily remove them from the water. But size isn’t always everything. Perhaps you are more interested in quantity than size. If so, I can certainly arrange that for you on some top quality waters where the fish fight like wild cats with their tails on fire! You simply tell me when and what you want to do and I’ll produce the perfect package tailored to fit your requirements.

I don’t have fixed rates because I’m not involved in 9 -5 fishing. Sitting in a hotel bar isn’t necessarily the way to get the best fishing or the biggest fish. Generally speaking I charge £150.00 per day plus expenses based on a single customer. I do rationalise that down for multiple customers.

What I often suggest to customers on a week or two week break is that they hire me for a couple of days to get them sorted out. During the two day period I will familiarise them with the fishing location and build confidence in flies, tactics and techniques, and then leave them to get on with it. This is a relatively cheap and successful option, after all some people don’t need molly-coddling, just a leg up and pointed in the right direction. The downside of this arrangement is that if conditions change dramatically mid-holiday, tactics, patterns and techniques may have to be radically altered. That’s where my knowledge and experience come in.

What will I do for you?

I will go anywhere at anytime, but my principal area of expertise is big, wild brown trout.
I have amassed an impressive list of trophy wild trout (4 lb and above) and my personal record was a 8 lb+ (returned) fish caught in the Western Isles.

Last year I had two 7 lb+ fish from Loch Arkaig.
I expect to better that this year.
If you want to catch the fish of a lifetime I’m your man, ‘cause I know where they live and how to catch ‘em.

My rates are very competitive, as is my success in leading anglers to unparalleled fishing experience.

If you know what you want, where to go and what you ultimately want to achieve, I’ll get you there and increase your chances of success.
If you haven’t a clue, I’ll put together a package designed specifically for you which will have all the potential of the fishing experience of a lifetime.
